Available with two engine options.
Perodua launched the Perodua Bezza in Malaysia this week. After the quick first look at the car in pictures yesterday, Paultan is now giving a detailed look at the Perodua Bezza in a walkaround video.
The Perodua Bezza is based on the Perodua Axia’s platform; the wheelbase is identical to the hatch.
The Perodua Bezza is the company’s first-ever sedan and first car designed in-house. It’s not entirely new though; it’s based on the Perodua Axia‘s platform. However, the whole body is unique. The small sedan measures 4,150 mm in length, 1,620 mm in width and 1,510 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,455 mm.
The Perodua Bezza is available in five trim levels, with prices (OTR, incl. insurance) starting at RM37,300 (INR 6,15,831.18) and going up to RM50,800 (INR 8,38,719.14). The Bezza is the first Perodua to be available with keyless entry, push-button start, engine start/stop system, MirrorLink smartphone screen mirroring function featuring touchscreen infotainment system, handphone slot with USB charging port and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC).
The Perodua Bezza is available with 67 hp 1.0-litre VVT-i and 94 hp 1.3-litre Dual VVT-i engine options.

The Perodua Bezza can be had with a 1.0-litre VVT-i engine producing 67 hp and 91 Nm of torque or a 1.3-litre Dual VVT-i engine developing 94 hp and 121 Nm of torque. 5-speed manual transmission is standard, but a 4-speed automatic transmission can be opted for, irrespective of the engine chosen.

New model available in seven trim levels, starting at RMB 109,900 (INR 11,02,784.71).
Chevrolet launched the 2017 Chevrolet Cruze in China earlier this week. The Cruze in China is now identical to the North American-spec model. The 2017 Chevrolet Cruze is available in seven trim levels, with prices starting at RMB 1,09,900 (INR 11,02,784.71) and going up to RMB 1,69,900 INR (17,04,850.98).
The 1.4-litre turbocharged engine now produces 240 Nm of torque, up from 235 Nm previously.
The older Chevrolet Cruze measured 4,567 mm in length, 1,786 mm in width and 1,454 mm in height, and had a wheelbase of 2,662 mm. The 2017 Chevrolet Cruze measures 4,666 mm (+99 mm) in length, 1,807 mm (+21 mm) in width and 1,460 mm (+6 mm) in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,700 mm (+38 mm). The new Cruze is bigger in every major aspect, but Chevrolet isn’t adding the ‘XL’ suffix to the name, as reported earlier.
The 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine now produces 110 kW (147 hp) and 240 Nm (+5 Nm) of torque, and is paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine, like before, develops 84 kW (112 hp) and 146 Nm of torque. However, instead of a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission, this unit can now be linked to a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine can now be had with a new 6-speed manual transmission which replaces the 5-speed manual transmission.

Reported to be based on the Baleno’s lightweight platform.
Car and Bike reports that Suzuki will make India the production hub for the next generation Suzuki Jimny. It could be launched in markets like Brazil, Indonesia and Europe before the end of the decade.
The Jimny could be launched in markets like Brazil, Indonesia and Europe before the end of the decade.
Suzuki’s tough-as-teeth SUV will be based on the Maruti Baleno‘s lightweight platform, offering significant weight savings that could be beneficial when traversing mucky terrain. It will continue to offer the characteristic 4×4 drivetrain, but could be powered by the 112 PS 1.0L Boosterjet engine from the export-spec Maruti Baleno.
Given that a 3-door mini SUV is a niche in the Indian market, Maruti is likely to introduce the Jimny as an extended, 4-door version in India, should the manufacturer consider a launch. As the Jimny name would be new to regular car buyers, Maruti could consider launching it as a long-time successor to the iconic Gypsy to garner attention. Like the Maruti Vitara Brezza, it can be sold as a sub-4m SUV, competing against the likes of the Mahindra TUV300.

One of the plants confirmed to make the right-hand drive version of the Jeep 551 is the Tata-Fiat JV plant in Ranjangaon, Maharashtra, where production will commence in 2017.
The Jeep 551 will be based on the Fiat 500X and the Jeep Renegade‘s small-wide front-wheel drive platform.

Likely to be located closer to Hyundai India’s plant.
According to Reuters, Kia Motors will finalize a location for their first production plant in India next month. Reports suggest that it will be located in Andhra Pradesh, so as to have a close proximity with sister brand Hyundai’s plant located in the outskirts of Chennai.
One likely product Kia could consider for India is the Picanto, which is based on the Hyundai i10.
Operations are expected to commence in 2019, and the plant will be capable of producing 300,000 vehicles a year. Kia’s products for India would share platforms with Hyundai’s established models, which are almost fully localized in the market.
Other than working on local production, Kia will also develop independent retail network and strategies, rather than leveraging on sister brand Hyundai’s wide dealership network. This will help Kia establish a distinct brand identity, similar to the likes of Nissan and Renault’s relationship.

Rumors of Kia’s entry in India have been circling for a long time. Various products like the Kia Picanto and Kia Venga have been spotted testing on Indian roads, although the tests were not affiliated with Kia’s entry into India; rather rival carmakers were using these for benchmarking purposes.
